Memory
Forgotten past, events all disconnected -
Brutality! Will it be resurrected?
And with it all the corollary fears
That mocked pretended happiness for years?
Forgotten past does not come in a dream.
Like a star that otherwise would gleam,
Disturbances drift underneath the sea,
And darkness hides forgotten memory.

Alone In Denny's
How sweet the difference! Exempt
From all the world beneath its rock.
And you! In sour crude contempt!
Kindness keeps you from the dock.
Denny's! Denny's! Empty booths
In several rows. The din is gone,
And too the crowds of tattooed youths,
If they sleep, to sleep til dawn.

Guilt
I am cold. My mother was.
I do not love. Our kitten does.
As does our kitten's friend, a cat
That's getting older, gotten fat.
Remorse and great regret he feels
For the wrongs that cloud his past.
The one he loves just lies and steals.
It won't be said that she went last.
A giant nation of tattoos!
Guilt will not wash off in baths.
Deities abound, but whose
Will bless this world of psychopaths?
I hurt two men. I hurt them deep.
And others more impulsively.
Nonetheless I go to sleep,
As though I were completely free.

Compassion
If you have compassion
Then perhaps you'll go to heaven.
Otherwise you won't.
Most people don't.
Some cats like other animals
Are capable of love.
I can see compassion,
But a feeling I don't have.
Like the foul Republicans
Who cannot be embarrassed,
I am just a crank, I'm merely
On the other side.

A Little Insight
Honesty is merely
Euphemistic, and is said
With every word sincerely
Aimed at someone else's head.
Republicans are vultures,
And the food is overpriced.
Do those in other cultures
Give a damn for Jesus Christ?
