Ineffectual
Paper poems. Nothing changes.
Empty rants. The war goes on.
Guns and canon bust the pencil.
Those who would have
Cared are stillborn.
The news defeats. Or entertains.
In family rooms the televisions
Vomit gore in pretty homes.
The war's in Syria and Egypt
Now. America's a spy.
All of this is necessary
Til you're dead. Then nothing is.

Recovery?
My mental illness was Jacqui.
My mad and moon-eyed awe
Is falling away in shreds.
Forgetting what I saw,
Recalling what I heard,
In spite of how it seems,
From healthy minds unclouded
With misbegotten dreams.
The woman who would cure
Schizophrenia
Died a mournful death,
And with her went the law.

If you like my poems, you can find lots of them on both Amazon and Kindle. Click on books, then type Joseph Hart Poetry in the address bar. The books I recommend are Endymion Awake, Keats and The Sea, Ten Chaps, Poems Published In Audience Magazine, Poems Published Somewhere Long Ago. My favorite (and the oldest) is On Sleep, &c (but I don't expect anyone else to like it). And none of the books I just listed is anything like what I write now. They are much nicer.
