Poems

Gay

First god and mother nature
Bend you out of shape.
You're a key without a hole to fit in.
Then your dad and mother
Indignant with contempt
Throw you out for what you did to them.
Then a lot of Christians
In arrogant conceit
Wish you into hell because
They know the truths of life.
Finally it takes
An action of the Court
To give you back the life that you were born with.
None of the above
Except perhaps the Court
Gives a damn for Shakespeare or Tchaikovsky.

The Game

In books, you say exactly what you mean.
On television you must keep it clean,
Lest the kids and righteous hear a word
That many times they have already heard.
And Amazon will yield to the elite
And banish every post that's indiscreet.
Americans are pure. They only kill.
They do not cuss, and surely never will.

Oakland

Oakland's clutch of psychopaths
Ready for the world,
Caring about people,
Like everybody else.
The tiny group's disbanded,
Its deity is dead.
Caring about people -
All without exception -
As if that were possible
Or even not revolting.
Caring for yourself -
Saintly Jerry Falwell -
When the ones you walk on
Weep, it's just a game.
